Privacy Policy
This notice is version 2026-10-14. It applies to GroundWork, also called The Groundwork, at thegroundwork.ink. We are based in the United States and write a free newsletter about founders, startups, and the work that happens before a public win.
What we collect
If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, if you choose to share it, your first name. When you confirm, we also store the time of that confirmation, the page that sent you to the form, and the version of this notice you saw. We do not ask for a last name, phone number, or payment details for the newsletter.
Our servers may see your IP address for a short time so we can slow down abuse of the signup form. We do not keep that address as a subscriber field.
Why we collect it
We use this information to send The Groundwork newsletter and related updates you asked for, to keep a record of consent, and to honor unsubscribe and deletion requests. The legal basis for readers in the EEA or UK is consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
Who processes it
Email delivery and the subscriber list run on Resend. Hosting and the public site may use our application host and, for stories and likes, Supabase. Those companies process data only to provide their services to us.
How long we keep it
We keep an active subscriber until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete the record. After an unsubscribe, Resend still holds the address as unsubscribed so we do not email you by accident. You can ask us to delete that record as well.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe at any time from a newsletter, or on the unsubscribe page.
- Ask for a copy of the subscriber record we hold, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing the address in each newsletter.
- Readers outside the US have the same unsubscribe and deletion path. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and similar storage
The site may store a theme preference on your device. We do not use advertising cookies. Liking a story uses a random visitor id in your browser so the same device cannot flood a count. That id is not tied to your email.
Children
The newsletter is written for adults and older teens who are building companies. We do not knowingly collect email from children under 13.
Changes
If this notice changes in a material way, we will update the version date here. New signups after that date confirm the new version. Existing subscribers can read the current notice at any time on this page.
